Common Food Trends #3

A common assumption that we all tend to make is thinking that if we exercise we don’t need to eat healthy. This proves a lack of knowledge about how important it is to put the right foods in our bodies. Maintaining a healthy diet is just as important as exercising. Sometimes we may think that working out is all we need to do to get fit and stay healthy, and although exercising is very important, our diet makes all the difference. Having a balanced diet of fruits, veggies, lean proteins and whole grain carbs will significantly change the way we feel, present ourselves, our energy levels, and all together improve our physical and mental health . To make more sense of it, here is a numerical idea of how important diet is, weight loss is broadly 75 percent diet and 25 percent exercise . Not eating healthy doesn’t just affect our weight, it can also cause many more physical problems. For example, it can cause nutritional deficiencies, fatigue, weakness, diabetes, change in your mood, and also increase your health risks now, and in the future (2016). Putting bad foods into our bodies may be satisfying in the moment, but it fails to provide us with the most important nutrients we need. With that in mind, it is important to know what diet is the most helpful and healthy when looking for change. There are so many food trends that are becoming more popular each year. I have personally seen people claim they are gluten free and noticed a large increase of gluten free products in grocery stores. I have also seen people try the sugar free diet, with not very successful outcomes. And I myself, have been 100% plant based for a time in my life. Each of these food trends will benefit you, but there are certainly things we should be aware of before starting a diet without any back round knowledge.
