2/15/17

She went along with life even though
She was warned.
It never really bothered her that what she wanted was
different from what they wanted.
And even though
she was given an explanation over and over again,
she lightly pushed it away knowing that she couldn't cage in
this vivid path that she craved.
Nevertheless, she persisted.

2/8/17

Watching this video really made me think. Because something he mentioned is that people rely on their cellphones and social media to make them happy and feel good about themselves. He said that a study is found that people who spend more time on Facebook than people who don't, have higher rates of depression. People tend to hide behind these profiles and pretend to have these "perfect lives." When in reality they are depressed, and don't have real, personal, and healthy relationships with human beings. I find myself spending way to much time on my cellphone than I need to. It's so easy to just turn on your phone and spend hours on it. But at the end of the day I usually only feel bad about myself because I don't have that "perfect instagram life." Something he said that I like is to balance it. Cellphones and social media overall aren't bad, if you balance it and only use it occasionally instead of consuming your life with it, than that's ok. It's scary how much it can affect us and it makes me want to stop using my phone as much as I do. Because I have noticed that when I don't have my phone with me, I am able to enjoy the world and enjoy the little things that happen around me because I don't have that distraction constantly pulling me in. Ultimately, cellphones and social media provide us with many good things. It's just all about moderation and balance.

2/20/17 Thanks for Speaking for Utah Women

The author of this article was using a very sarcastic tone you could say. She was obviously very angry about the topic and wanted to get her point across that the things James Green is doing about the Equal Pay bill, or how she stated " the ridiculous Equal Pay bill," is foolish and unintelligent. After reading her choice of words I felt the same way she did about the issue. Because I am a women I was able to connect to her and understand where her worry and fear is. She wanted us to realize how mindless James Green was about this issue by implying it is funny how dumb it is.

Article of the Day 2/6/17

This article was very interesting. Reading about men that wish to paint their nails, buy flowers, and wear floral perfume is something I never really knew lots of men had the desire to do. I personally don't think all men feel like this, because of course everyone is different and everyone likes different things. I feel as though if men did want to do those things, they would. Because I have seen men that paint their nails and wear makeup, but I also know lots of men that would never even consider doing those things. Everyone is different and if thats how you jam, then go with it! Their is a quote that reminds me of this article, "You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, but their will always be someone who hates peaches." No matter who you are, what you like, or what you do their will always be someone who doesn't like what you do. So be you and don't let anyone or anything hold you back!

Something I do agree with in this article is that men hold in emotions. They are told to "be a man" when ever they get hurt or start to cry. All though we may all be different in our actions, interests, personalities, and looks, we are all human and we all have emotions. One thing that needs to be known is that it's ok to be sad or mad or frustrated. It is a natural thing and we need to express that to feel happiness and joy. Most men aren't very good at expressing their emotions but they need to know that its ok and ultimately it is more healthy to let it all those feelings out once in a while.

1/30/17 Elisa Chavez: Revenge

This poem has so much influence. I could just imagine her spitting out these words with grievance and irritation about so many different issues that are tearing our country apart. What America is becoming right now is what influenced her to write this poem. People are confused, scared and uncertain about what to do anymore. Although me and others may have different views on these issues, Elisa brings out a feeling in her poem where I was able to connect with her in a sense that our country is going in a scary direction right now. Her writing and words were very tough and showed me that she wasn't just going to sit back about what is going on, she had to be real for a minute and get attention for what she felt was happening.
